Hasu by Boadicea the Victorious is a fascinating perfume inspired by the Chinese Zodiac this time the rabbit. It is the fourth in the twelve-year cycle of Chinese calendar animals.

Rabbits, hares and the moon have an associative heritage of pagan history as old as time. Rebirth, fertility and abundance: three key facets to rabbit mythology. Hasu represents a warrior rabbit in a classic Boadicea way, fluffy prey transformed into something powerful and mystical. It smells pagan, perfumed wildlife flickering like shadows among ancient woodlands.

Top notes fuse conifer-tinted cypress and the herbaceous soapiness of sage, lavender spritzed with a gentle citrus note. Saffron and violet leaf are key in the opening, green and shadowed with just a hint of the flower’s powdery nature.

The heart of Hasu is rose and osmanthus layered with nutmeg, rooty iris and hay that suggests the comfort and safety of burrows and hutches. Terpenic balsams and moss enhance the dusky forest mood. Patchouli and ambered musks suggest fur by moonlight. Hasu is a sacred moon-lit mammal, bewitching on skin, darting in and out of shadows, allowing glimpses of textured pelt, lost forests and fertile olfaction. A profound addition to the Boadicea Zodiac collection.
